This guide will help you set up and customize the subscription form for your Price Alerts plugin.

After installing and activating the plugin, navigate to Price Alerts → Settings in your WordPress dashboard. Under the Form tab, you’ll find all the options related to how the subscription form appears and behaves on the product page.

While most options are self-explanatory, this section walks you through the key settings to ensure your form looks good, functions smoothly, and fits seamlessly into your store’s design.

This documentation covers all available settings, including features exclusive to the PRO version. The Free version includes essential customization options and is fully functional out of the box, but the PRO version unlocks more advanced features and greater design flexibility.

Enable

Must be checked to activate the subscription form. If disabled, the form will not appear on your product pages.

Double Opt-In

Sends a confirmation email to users after they subscribe. They must confirm their email address to complete the subscription.

This helps prevent spam signups, ensures the email address is valid, and improves the overall quality of your subscriber list. It also helps you comply with privacy and email marketing regulations like GDPR.

Note: If a logged-in user subscribes, we assume their email address is valid and verified—so the double opt-in process is automatically considered complete, and no confirmation email will be sent.

Show Only for Logged-in Users

Displays the form only to users who are logged into your site. Useful for private or members-only content.

Display Mode

Choose how the subscription form appears on your product pages.

  • Modal (Popup): Displays a button that opens the form in a popup when clicked. This keeps the product page cleaner and is ideal if you want to show the form only when the user expresses interest.
  • Inline: Shows the form directly on the product page. Useful if you want to make the form always visible and encourage more signups without an extra click.

If Modal is selected as the display mode, additional settings will appear for configuring the trigger button that opens the subscription form.

Position

Decide where the subscription form (or the trigger button, if using Modal) should appear on the product page.

  • Before product meta: Places the form or button above the product’s tags and categories.
  • After product summary: Places it after the main product summary section.
  • I’ll insert the shortcode: Use the [price-alerts] shortcode to manually place the form or button wherever you want.

The shortcode adapts based on your selected Display Mode—it will either show the full inline form or a button that triggers the modal. This is especially useful if you want full control over placement, whether in your theme’s template files or in any editor that supports shortcodes.

Fields

Allow Higher Target Price

Enable this option to allow customers to enter a target price that is higher than the product’s current price.

Subscribers who choose a higher price will only be notified when the product price changes and becomes equal to or lower than their subscribed target price. This can be useful if you plan future price increases or want to gauge interest at different price levels.

Marketing Checkbox

Enable this option to display a marketing opt-in checkbox in the subscription form. This gives users the choice to receive additional promotional emails beyond the price alert.

  • Marketing Text: Customize the label shown next to the checkbox. Use this text to briefly explain what kind of marketing emails the user will receive.

Note: The Price Alerts plugin does not send promotional emails. This checkbox simply collects consent. You can manually export these subscribers and add them to your email marketing lists using your preferred tool or platform.

GDPR Checkbox

Enable this option to add a GDPR consent checkbox to the form. When enabled, the checkbox becomes a required field, and users must check it to complete the subscription.

  • GDPR Text: Enter the text that explains why consent is needed, typically referring to data processing or privacy compliance.

These checkboxes help you stay compliant with privacy regulations and build trust with your users.

Honeypot – Anti-Spam

A honeypot is a hidden field added to the form to catch spam bots. Real users won’t see or fill this field, but bots often will.

If the hidden field contains any value on submission, the entry is flagged as spam and can be blocked.

This method helps prevent spam without disrupting user experience—no CAPTCHAs or extra steps required.

Design

Customize the appearance of the subscription form to better match your site’s branding and layout.

Primary Color

Sets the main accent color used in the form. This includes the button background, checkbox, and form elements such as labels, borders, and focus outlines.

Field Style

Choose the visual style of the form fields. Available options:

  • Default: Uses bordered form styling with minimal adjustments.
  • Standard: Adds consistent spacing and borders for a cleaner, more structured look.
  • Outlined: Displays each field with a border and a floating label that moves when the field is focused or filled.
  • Filled: Fields have a solid background fill with floating labels, giving them a more prominent appearance.

These styles help the form blend nicely into a variety of design environments.

Intro Text

Displayed directly above the form or trigger button on the product page. Use this section to encourage users to subscribe or explain how the alerts work.

  • Intro Headline: A short title that grabs attention (e.g. “Want to save on this product?”)
  • Intro Description: A brief explanation or call to action (e.g. “Get notified when the price drops!”)

This content is always visible and helps increase engagement.
