Translating Free Shipping Label Strings with WPML

WPML 4.7: Improved String Translation Workflow

WPML 4.7 introduces a new workflow for translating strings that simplifies the process significantly. Instead of manually scanning for strings in the String Translation module, you can now visit your site in a secondary language on the front-end. WPML will automatically identify the texts that need translation.

These strings can then be reviewed and sent for translation from the “Other texts (Strings)” section in the Translation Management dashboard by applying the Frontend (viewed) filter. If you wish to translate back-end strings, you can still access the String Translation module later.

For full details and a walkthrough, visit WPML’s Beta Release Notes or watch their video tutorial.

If you’re using WPML below version 4.7 or prefer the “old way” of translating strings, please follow these steps:

Localization

1. Go to WPML → Theme and plugins localization in your WordPress dashboard.

2. In the Strings in the plugins section, find either Free Shipping Label or Free Shipping Label (Pro).

3. Select the checkbox next to the desired plugin.

4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Scan selected components for strings button.

Once the scanning is complete, a modal window will display the scanning results. You can close this window after reviewing the results.

To begin translating, click on the free-shipping-label text domain.

Start Translating

Navigate to WPML → String Translation.

In the “Domains” dropdown, select free-shipping-label to view all translatable strings.

Translate Strings:

In the languages column, click on the plus icon to translate each string into the desired languages.

You don’t need to translate all the strings. If you want to translate only the public-facing texts, you can focus on those specifically.

If a translated string is not available for a particular language, the plugin will display the default English text instead.

For more detailed information on using WPML String Translation, please refer to the WPML official documentation.
